Galicia, Rías Baixas
A day full of history, scenery, gastronomy and unique experiences.
We will pick you up at your hotel in Santiago de Compostela to begin a unique day trip to the Rías Baixas, far from the more conventional tourist routes.
Our first stop will be in Cambados, considered the capital of Albariño wine and a Historic-Artistic Site. We will stroll through its cobbled streets, stately palaces and seaside squares, discovering the essence of a town linked to wine and the sea.
Next, we will visit a family-run winery with limited production, where traditional methods and the rural setting allow us to understand the true character of Albariño wines. During the visit, we will tour the vineyards, learn about their history and philosophy, and enjoy a guided tasting in an intimate and friendly atmosphere
For lunch, we will head to an old furancho, now converted into a small local restaurant. There we will sample traditional seasonal Galician products in a simple and authentic atmosphere, as if we were having lunch at a friend’s house.
In the afternoon, we will take a walk along the Atlantic coast, following paths that skirt the coastline and allow us to enjoy the sea breeze, the sound of the waves and unique views of the ocean. From here, you can see the mussel rafts floating in the estuary and, on clear days we can see the islands of the Atlantic Islands National Park.
We will reach the chapel of A Lanzada, one of the most symbolic enclaves in Galicia, with its Romanesque church and all the legends about it .
On the way back, we will visit the Monastery of Armenteira, founded in the 12th century, surrounded by nature, it is a serene space that invites contemplation. The route will be completed with a private visit to the Pazo de Rubianes, where we will tour its spectacular historic gardens and learn about the wine-making tradition linked to the estate.
We will return to Santiago at the end of the afternoon, after a day full of history, scenery, gastronomy and unique experiences.

Curiosities
- Cambados, the first stop on the tour, is known as the capital of Albariño wine. Its connection to wine is so strong that in 2017 it was recognised as a European City of Wine, a title that reflects the importance of its wine-making tradition.
- The Monastery of Armenteira, founded in the 12th century, was one of the most influential centres of the Cistercian order in Galicia. The monks not only built a spiritual space of great beauty, but also promoted the cultivation of vines in the region, laying the foundations for galician viticulture,
- The Pazo de Rubianes is one of the three historic estates in Galicia and a place steeped in history and symbolism. Its gardens, which include one of the most important collections of camellias in Europe, are listed as a Garden of International Excellence, a title that very few places have been granted with.
- The sea is also an essential element in the life of the Rías Baixas. Thousands of floating rafts are scattered across the waters for mussel farming, considered one of the best in the world for its quality and flavour. Watching them from the coast or during a walk along the seafront is one of the most characteristic images of the region.
- The chapel of A Lanzada is one of the most emblematic sites on the galician coast. Of medieval origin, it is a place full of legends and traditions. Among them is the ‘bath of the nine waves’, an ancient fertility ritual that still attracts visitors and curious onlookers today.
- Albariño wine, the emblem of the area, has had the Rías Baixas Designation of Origin since 1988. However, its history is much older: it is already mentioned in medieval documents. It is currently one of the Spanish white wines with the greatest international prestige and recognition.
- The coastline of the Rías Baixas also bears traces of a much more distant past. Castros (fortified settlements) and petroglyphs scattered throughout the area remind us that these lands have been inhabited since the Bronze Age, leaving behind an archaeological legacy of great value.
